Jimmy Clausen is a former American football quarterback who played for several NFL teams such as Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, and Baltimore Ravens. He was the member of the Notre Dome college football team and was picked in the second round by Panthers in the 2010 NFL draft.

Jimmy Clausen was born to Cathy Clausen and Jim Clausen on 21st September 1987, in Thousand Oaks, California, United States. His father who now runs an insurance company formerly worked as an assistant coach for several high school and colleges.

Jimmy’s oldest brother, Casey played college football at Tennesse and was the second most prolific passer in school history before ending his career in 2003 only behind Peyton Manning. Rick, his other brother, is also a football quarterback and has played for LSU and Knoxville. He also has a sister.

Following his primary education, he joined Oaks Christian High School. He was a prolific player in his high school and went on to be named as “Offensive Player of the Year” after winning the 2006 Hall Trophy.

Jimmy Clausen’s College and Professional Career

Jimmy Clausen then attended Notre Dome in 2007. He was quickly made the starting quarterback of the team, however, the team won only 1 of the 6 matches played against UCLA. Clausen was then replaced by Evan Sharpley.

He was again included into the team and had 60.9% of his passes completed for 3172 yards. He was the 44th ranked quarterback in the NCCA Division in his sophomore year with 17 interceptions, 25 touchdowns and 132.5 efficiency rating. After his impressive performance, he was also named the bowl’s co-MVP.

Jimmy Clausen entered in the 2010 NFL draft and was selected as the 16th pick in the second round by Carolina Panthers. He signed a 4-year contract with the club but got few playing time after the arrival of Cam Newton.

He then moved to Chicago Bears in 2014 and was named the starter. However, he collided with Ezekiel Ansah in December and was sidelined due to injury.

In November 2015, he joined Baltimore Ravens and was included in the team in several games. He took retirement after the end of the season.

Clausen’s wife, Jessica is a former standout Volleyball Player at USC before ending her college career in 2009. She also played beach volleyball in Cuervo Pro Beach Series. Jessica is a graduate with Masters degree in Communication and Media Studies from USC.
